With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
Mad Symphony was just coming out of the gates as a band. We had one show under our belt and the second one booked. A few days before that next gig everything got shut down.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
We didn't have a tour booked at that point but we were able to release our debut EP on MR Records out of Melbourne, Australia in May of 2021. We did gain quite a bit of excellent promo and radio airplay worldwide but without touring you can only get so far.
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
The band has been using this pandemic time to continue rehearsing and writing to be ready for our next album releases and hopefully a tour at some point.
How are dealing with the Covid fifth wave? Have things locked down again in your region? Have you had to cancel gigs, tours, etc.? Are things reopening & restrictions are lifting in your region? Have you booked any new gigs, tours, etc.? What are your plans for 2022?
What can you say about how to deal with Covid? It is what it is and everyone just has to make the best of it. We did have gigs cancelled which are now rebooked as everything in our province has pretty much opened back up for now. Bars are at full capacity, you're allowed to dance as well but masks and vaccine passports are required. 2022 will bring our next album release and lots of shows (fingers crossed). We also look forward to working more with Canadian publicist, Eric Alper, who actually got us this feature here on Starlite Sessions.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
This pandemic will not last forever so get ready to pack some venues and support live music once again... and look out for Mad Symphony!
